Dear Seniors,
Throughout this unexpected sharp turn in everyone's lives, I am realizing the fears, worry, and anticipation of what is going to happen next. STOP. Take a deep breath, calm down, and have faith. With this pandemic outbreak, plans being canceled, work, and school closures, we need to adjust to these changes the best way we can.
During times of crisis, we tend to get stuck in what the media says and what others think rather than to actually stick to a routine that keeps us sane, healthy, and most importantly safe. Though people all over the world are upset about the lockdown, students are mostly upset that schools are being closed around such an eventful time which is why seniors are the main priority right now. Being a senior, I did not expect this, but I will say this, We have worked so hard over the last four years and we can't stop now. We made it!
Even if it doesn’t feel like it because we are missing out on the senior activities, take it as a time to relax your mind, busy workloads, and hectic schedules.
Invest in this extra time for reading, writing poems, listening to music, bike riding, cooking, meditating, and of course doing homework whenever it is online. It’s also a good time to prepare yourself for college and eventually the real world as adults once this all blows over.
Remember Black Girl Magic has no restrictions or limits, we still are capable of self-love and loving others even if it's at a distance. Take time to appreciate loved ones and have quality bonding time with your families.
Stay strong and positive! And don't forget to pray.
Much Love,
Anissa Brown,
